Financing

It costs money to study. Especially in Munich, students have to dig deep into their pockets to finance their studies. Starting in the Summer Semester 2007, there will also be tuition costs of 500 Euro, which further stretches the wallet. For those who can’t cover the cost for rent, groceries and learning materials themselves or with financial support from their parents, the Studentenwerk [Student Union] and various other institutions offer various forms of financial aid.

The first point of contact for questions about finanzing your studies is the Student Finance Counselling Center, run by the Munich Student Union.  If you have questions about BAföG, please contact the Office for Student Aid of the Munich Student Union.  The Student Union also provides information on short-term, special needs loans and financial aid for gifted and talented students.
