Day-Care with a Mission



Our Day-Care Centers are run by a nonprofit society and thererfore rely very much on active involvement and engagement of the parents.

A social worker supports the facilities in all educational questions and organisatorial aspects. She, for instance, offers advice in the hiring of qualified  personnel, the formulation of pedagogic concepts and the equipment of the Day-Care Centers with age-appropriate furniture and play materials.

 


Terms of Admission



  • At least one of the child's parents must be properly enrolled as a student.
  • The child must at least be one year old but may not be older than three at the time of admission.
  • Parents must be willing to be involved.


Size of Playgroups and Regular Attendance



The number of children in a playgroup may vary, depending on the size of available rooms. As a rule, 8 to 12 children are looked after in on playgroup.

Attendance on a regular basis is expected.

 


Qualified Personnel



The pedagogic supervision of the children is done by accordingly qualified personnel, with two trained professionals per playgroup. Regular team sessions and vocational training assure a high level of up-to-date competence in child care. 


Hours of Operation



  • half-day, from 8.00 a.m.  to 12.30 p.m.
  • full-day, from 8.00 a.m.  to 04.00/05.00 p.m.
  • extended, from 8.00 Uhr to 02.30 p.m.


Cost



The monthy fees for the Day-Care Centers of the Studentenwerks München [Munich Student Union] are:

  • 260 EUR for a full-day spot
  • 200 EUR for an extended spot
  • 140 EUR for a half-day spot

 These fees are due in advance for each month, also for those holiday weeks on which the center is closed. Full Day Facilities add a 15 to 30 EUR monthly meal fee to their standard fee. All articels like diapers, lotions and such are paid for by parents.


Refunding of Child Care Cost



If you alone or together with your spouse you do not have a regular income, the Jugendamt [Youth Welfare Office] will fully or partially refund the cost for child care if applied to accordingly.


 



If you do not want to place your child in day care regularly, you can use the newly opened child care service "Campuskinder" [Campus Children], which has been operating on a hourly basis since the winter semster 2005/06. The Campuskinder facility is located convenietly close to the LMU-University on Amalienstrasse.
