Academic Advising: The First Step To Your Goal

The central Academic Advising Office helps you to gain some orientation on your choice of career and field of study, the individual universities and your own academic situation. Pupils from all schools as well as first-year students and college dropouts are advised competently and can obtain useful hints and tipps.
- It is always a good idea to collect as much information as possible about the fields of study that interest you while still in school. For this you can use the universities' websites. In doing so you avoid having to make the important decision about your study subject at the last minute!
You should inquire about more information on admission restrictions and current organisational questions concering your study at the university of your choice in time before the semester begins - this means the beginning of June for fall semster and the beginning of December for the summer semster
Almost all german universities have their own Academic Advising Office where with only a little investing of time you can get plenty of information and solutions to all your study related problems or simply some basic orientation. These central Academic Advising Offices offer or can arrange the following:
- Individual one-on-one advisement
- Group advising
- Orientation Courses for pupils and first-year students
- Workshops on learning- and other academic techniques
- Info brochures and checklists on all fields of study and study related matters
